Ottawa, April 4, 2024—As Russia continues its illegal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine, Canada continues to adapt its response to support those who have found a temporary safe haven here.

The overseas application intake under the Canada–Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) closed on July 15, 2023. CUAET holders had until March 31, 2024, to travel to Canada under these special measures.

IRCC is now extending some CUAET measures to people who applied overseas before the deadline and who experienced delays with the processing of their application and received a positive decision on or after February 4, 2024. These people will have until July 31, 2024, to arrive in Canada and apply for an inland study permit and an open work permit free of charge, once approved.
